BROTHER PRINTER CONNECTED TO WIFI BUT OFFLINE

If you encounter the printer offline error over a wireless network, you can follow the below instructions to fix it.

  • Initially, check to make sure that your Brother printer and the computer are connected to the same wireless network.
  • Next, check whether your printer encounters an error, such as an empty toner. If yes, clear it and then perform the print operation.
  • Set your Brother printer as the default printer on your computer if you haven’t done it yet. (Note: Refer to the instructions given under the Set Brother as default printer section of this page to set your printer as default.)
  • Make sure that your computer meets the system requirements of the printer.

SET BROTHER AS DEFAULT PRINTER

For Windows

  • Open the Devices & Printers window.
  • Locate and right-click on your Brother printer name.
  • Select the Set as default printer option.

For Mac

  • On the System Preferences screen, click on the Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners option.
  • In the Print & Scan window, select your Brother printer.
  • Locate the Default printer drop-down menu and select your printer model.

CHECK BASIC PRINTER SETTINGS

Check your Brother printer’s basic printer settings by following the instructions given below.

For Windows

  • On your Windows computer, open the Printers & Devices window.
  • Select and right-click on your printer.
  • Click on the Printing Preferences option.
  • Now, a dialog box titled Brother XXXX Printer Printing Preferences will open.
  • Click on the Basic tab.
  • In this section, you can configure or modify the basic printer settings, such as paper size, orientation, number of copies, media type, resolution, etc., if you wish.
  • Set the basic printer settings as per your desire.
  • Finally, click on the Apply button followed by OK.

For Mac

    You can check your Brother printer’s basic settings on Mac using the Printer Settings Tool.

  • Initially, make sure that your Brother printer is connected to the Mac computer.
  • Now, open the Applications window on your computer.
  • Click Brother > Printer Setting Tool > Printer Setting Tool app.
  • Choose your Brother printer from the drop-down menu in the Printer Settings Tool window.
