Step 1: Unpacking the printer

  • Open your Brother printer package.

  • Take the printer and its components out of the box.
  • Unpack your printer completely.
  • After completing the unpacking process, place the printer closer to an electrical outlet.

Step 2: Installing the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly

  • Unpack the drum unit followed by the toner cartridge.
  • Place the cartridge in the drum unit.
  • Now, shake the cartridge assembly.
  • Open the front door of your Brother HL B2000D Setup.
  • Locate the cartridge slot and place the assembly in its slot. Close the front door of your printer.

Step 3: Loading paper

  • Get a stack of plain, thin, recycled, or thick paper type of your desire.
  • Pull out the paper tray of your printer.
  • Align the width guides based on the paper type you are loading.
  • Place the paper in the tray and align it properly.
  • Adjust the width guides properly and place the paper tray back into the printer.

Step 4: Turning on the printer

As discussed in the introduction, Brother HL-B2000D is a single-functional printer. It only supports the print operation.

Brother HL B2000D Wireless Setup

You can connect your Brother HL-B2000D printer to a wireless network using the printer control panel or the WPS method. The procedure to perform the Brother wireless setup using the printer control panel is given below.

  • Initially, gather your wireless network credentials, such as username and password.
  • Next, turn on your Brother HL-B2000D printer and the wireless router.
  • Now, from the printer’s home screen, select the Network option.
  • Choose WLAN > Setup Wizard > On. When displayed, select your network’s SSID.
  • In the given field, type the network password and press OK.
  • Once your Brother printer is connected to the wireless network, connect your computer to the same network.
  • Now, open the printer driver file.
  • Accept the EULA. Select Wireless as the connection type.

Paper Jam

A paper jam or paper feed problem can occur in the following parts of the Brother HL-B2000D printer: paper tray, back of the printer, inside the printer, and in the 2-sided tray. As soon as the paper jam occurs, restart your printer. After restarting the printer, check whether the paper jam issue persists. If yes, look for the jammed paper in the above-mentioned parts of the printer, and remove it manually.

Removing jammed paper from the paper tray

  • Take the paper tray completely out of the Brother HL B2000D Setup.
  • Look for the jammed paper.
  • If you find any, then remove it slowly and without damaging it further.
  • After removing the jammed paper, place the tray back into the printer and print a test page.
  • If the printer prints the test page successfully, it means that the paper jam issue is resolved.
  • Similarly, look for the jammed paper in other parts of the printer and remove it.

Toner reset

    Usually, after replacing the toner cartridge, you have to reset the drum counter. The following instructions explain the same.

  • Turn on your Brother printer if it is turned off.
  • Now, open the front cover of your printer.
  • Press and hold the Go button for a while.
  • As soon as the LEDs on the printer control panel start to blink, release the button.
  • Close the front cover.

Printer Offline

  • Restart your Brother printer.
  • If your printer is turned off, turn it on, and then perform the print operation.
  • Make sure that the latest version of the printer driver is installed on your computer.
  • Check if the Brother printer and your computer are connected to the same network. If not, connect them to the same network and then perform the print operation.
  • If the Use Printer Offline option is enabled, then disable it. To do so, select and right-click on your Brother printer in the View Devices and Printers window. Click See what’s printing > printer driver > Printer and deselect the Use Printer Offline option.

Reset your printer settings to default if none of the solutions resolve the printer issues.

  • From the home screen of your printer, select the Initial Setup option.
  • Choose Reset > All.
  • Press the Yes button to initiate the reset process.
  • Once the printer settings are restored, reconfigure them and then perform the print operation.

Printing Blank Pages

  • Initially, make sure that the toner cartridge has enough ink to perform the print operation. (Note: Usually, the Toner LED on your printer control panel will start to blink when the ink level becomes low.)
  • Next, check to make sure that the recommended media type is loaded into the printer’s paper tray.
  • If the document you are printing has any plain pages, then check whether you have selected the Skip Blank pages option while configuring the print operation settings.
  • To check it, open the print operation’s Properties box and see if it is selected.
  • If not, select it and perform the print operation.
